Celebrate Houston Bird Week at Cullinan Sept 19
Houston Bird Week is September 18-25
Cullinan Park Conservancy has joined Houston Audubon and other local conservation partners to celebrate the important role Houston plays in the journey of billions of migratory birds and the everyday lives of our resident birds. The week of Sept 18-25 will be filled with fun events centered around our region’s birds and wildlife – from bird walks to mindfulness talks to watch parties, there's something for all to enjoy. Click here for a full calendar. Keep up with Bird Week on social media using #HoustonBirdWeek!
Cullinan is hosting two events on Sunday, September 19:
8-9:30 AM: Guided Bird Hike -- Join expert birders for a guided Bird Hike at the top birding hotspot in Sugar Land. An impressive 267 species of birds have been observed in Cullinan Park. This is a great learning experience and fun for birders of all abilities. Bring binoculars and/or camera and water. Dress for the weather and wear waterproof walking shoes. Meet in the parking lot.
10-11 AM: Family Birding Fun -- Bring the kids for some Family Birding Fun at beautiful Cullinan Park! All ages are welcome to learn about the amazing birds of Sugar Land and how to get started as a birdwatcher. We’ll share some fun bird scavenger hunts and then travel across the boardwalk over White Lake to search for our feathered friends. Bring binoculars or a camera if you have them, but if you don’t, you can still share our spotting scope or even practice identifying birds by sound. The event is stroller- and wheelchair-friendly except for an optional trip up the stairs of an observation tower. Meet in the parking lot.
Sunrise to Sunset: Bird Photography -- Houston Bird Week is a great time to capture some contest-worthy shots. Take your camera to the park on the 19th or anytime before Sept. 22 and take some nature photos to enter into Cullinan’s 2021 Photo Contest. Find details here.
