  • Begins at 12:00 am on Tuesday, August 1, 2023
  • Ends at 11:59 pm on Saturday, September 30, 2023

Winners will be announced by Friday, October 20, 2023.

Eligibility

The 2023 Cullinan Park Conservancy Photo Contest is open to any professional or amateur photographer of any age who has electronically submitted a completed registration and images via Woobox, as described in the Official Rules to Cullinan Park Conservancy during the dates listed above. Only electronic submissions will be accepted. The contest is open to all participants regardless of residence or citizenship, so long as the laws of their jurisdiction allow participation. Board members and employees of Cullinan Park Conservancy are not eligible to enter.

What to Enter

The contest seeks to expand public awareness of Joseph S. and Lucie H. Cullinan Park. The Cullinan Park Conservancy is looking for striking digital images of nature highlighting the richness, beauty, and diversity of Cullinan Park. All photos must be taken of subjects within the park boundaries. Note: Hodge’s Bend Cemetery is not within park boundaries. The photos do not necessarily need to have been taken this year or during the entry period.

Photo Categories

A category must be selected when submitting an entry to the Photo Contest. Entries will be considered from the following categories:

  1. Taken with phone: So many of our park visitors capture great shots on their phones and post on social media. We gave these photos their own category this year, so you don't have to have a professional camera to particpate!
  2. Birds: Any bird species captured in Cullinan Park.
  3. Wildlife: Any wildlife other than birds, such as mammals, amphibians, reptiles, butterflies, etc.
  4. Landscape: A sense of place, with or without people. If you include people in your submission, you are responsible for obtaining the necessary releases from the individuals depicted and must be able to provide copies of those releases upon request.
  5. Flora: Trees, flowers, plants, etc. inside of the park.

Cullinan Park Conservancy reserves the right to reject any additional entries or entries that do not comply with these Official Rules. By entering, you indicate your unconditional agreement to, and acceptance of, these Official Rules and Sponsor’s decisions, which are final and binding. You cannot win a prize unless you comply with all requirements in these Official Rules. Entrants may be asked to supplement their submission with more explanation about the photo or to provide a higher resolution version of the photo anytime during the contest period.

How to Enter

Participants may enter a maximum of three (3) total images in whichever categories they choose (not 3 per category, but 3 total).

To ensure eligibility of your submission, participants must submit their entries via the Woobox link during the Contest Entry Period. Please include:

Photo Information

For each photo (up to 3 entries), please provide the following information:

Title of Photo: Give your photo a short, creative name.

Images Quality

Submit up to 3 .jpg images of a resolution high enough to support printing 16 x 20 inches (except for the "taken w/ phone" category).

Images that do not meet this standard may still be judged but might not be honored in the competition (at the jurors’ sole discretion) if the photographer is unable or unavailable to provide adequate resolution when asked, as determined by the Cullinan Park Conservancy.

All photos must be captured while abiding by all Cullinan Park rules. The general safety and well-being of people in the park as well as the conservation of wildlife and its habitat takes priority. Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity and photographic merit, including technical quality, composition, originality, and artistic merit. The decisions of the judges are final.

The "people's choice" winner will be based on the photo that received the most votes on the Woobox platform. You may share a link to your submitted photos to increase your potential votes.
